Chinese Consulate in Laoag Holds  2024 Chinese New Year Reception

On February 3, the Chinese Consulate in Laoag held its reception for the 2024 Chinese New Year celebration at Fort Ilocandia Hotel in Laoag.

The event was attended by more than 350 guests including Batanes Governor Marilou Cayco, Ilocos Norte Vice Governor Cecilia Araneta Marcos, Cagayan Vice Governor Melvin Vargas, Laoag City Mayor Michael Marcos Keon and other local officials, together with Filipino-Chinese communities from different provinces and cities, representatives from Chinese enterprise and Chinese students.

In his speech, Consul & Head of Post Ren Faqiang expressed his warm New Year greetings to the people in the consular district, and extended his sincere thanks to them for their support in the China-Philippines friendship and to the Consulate.

He introduced the new achievements in China's economic and social development over the past year, under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core. He also reviewed the new progress in the exchanges and cooperation between China and Northern Luzon.

Batanes Governor Cayco and other Filipino officials, alongside with representatives from the Filipino-Chinese community delivered their messages and expressed their Chinese New Year greetings and wishes for China-Philippines relations to make even more progress in the new year.

Students from Mariano Marcos State University including Chinese students, and from Paoay National High School delighted the event with their wonderful cultural performances.
