Consul & Head of Post Ren Faqiang Meets with the Filipino-Chinese Community in La Union

From November 21 to 22, Consul & Head of Post Ren Faqiang of the Chinese Consulate in Laoag met with the Filipino-Chinese communities in La Union Province. He was welcomed by the President Wu Xiongcheng (Nelson Go)of La Union and Baguio Chapter of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce, its Honorary President Alex Sia, PresidentRichard Dy of the La Union Cultural Institute and other Chinese leaders.

During the visit, Consul Ren had a fruitful discussion with the Filipino-Chinese community, appreciated their commitment in promoting China-Philippines friendship, local exchanges, and in uniting to serve their fellow Chinese citizens in the locality.

The Consulasked about the problems that local Chinese citizens are facing, and assured that the Consulate will continue to support the development of Filipino-Chinese communities and to effectively safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens.Consul Ren also presented a letter of commendation to President Wu, expressing appreciation to the Chapter for recently donating 300,000 pesos to those who were affected by the typhoon.

President Wu, Honorary PresidentAlex Sia and other local Chinese leaders warmly welcomed the new head Consul’s appointment and visit, and said that the Filipino-Chinese communities in La Union will continue to support the work of the Consulate and will further make efforts to promote China-Philippines friendship and local economic development.

As invited, Consul Ren visited La Union Filipino-Chinese Friendship Pagoda built in 1971, the La Union Cultural Institute built in 1931, and other cultural and educational places. Further, he exchanged views with the school board members and other Chinese leaders to improve the operations of Chinese school and to better promote Chinese culture.

Honorary President Sia and President Wu accompanied Consul Ren to visit the La Union Cultural Institute, to which they generously donated money to support the construction and improvement of the Institute’s classrooms. Their kind gestures were highly appreciated by the Consul.
