Chinese Consulate in Laoag Expresses Regards and Sympathy to the Earthquake-stricken Areas

On the evening of October 25, an earthquake of magnitude 6.4 occurred in Abra Province in the northern Philippines, causing injuries and property damage. Abra Province and surrounding provinces were strongly shaken.

The Chinese Consulate in Laoag contacted the leaders of local Chinese communities of Abra and other provinces, and the provincial and municipal governments immediately to learn about the disaster and the situation of Chinese citizens and express concerns.

Consul and Head of Post Ren Faqiangcalled Ms. Bernos, the Vice Governor of Abra Province, where the epicenter was located, and the local Chinese community leaders to convey the regards and sympathy of Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines H.E.Huang Xilian and exchanged views on disaster relief cooperation. Ms. Bernos expressed her gratitude, and once again thanked the Chinese Embassy and Consulate for providing food packs to the people in the Province affected by the strong earthquake of magnitude 7.1 in July.

According to various sources, no Chinese citizens were found to have been injured or killed in the earthquake or several aftershocks that followed.
