On October 7, Acting Head of Post and Consul Sun Weidong met with Pangasinan Governor Ramon Guico III and Dagupan City Mayor Belen Fernandez.

Consul Sun congratulated Governor Guico on his successful election, and conveyed the greetings of the Sichuan Provincial Government of China and their good intentions to form good relationship with their local government. Upon discussion, both sides are looking forward to continuing to expand their friendly cooperation in the future.

The consul likewise congratulated Mayor Fernandez on her assumption of office, saying that since she took office, their city government has overcome difficulties such as the COVID-19 pandemic, and has actively promoted local economic development and improvement of people's livelihood.

Further, Consul Sun said that Dagupan City is an important gathering place for Chinese and Chinese Filipinos, and thanked the city government for its long-term support and concern for the Filipino-Chinese community. He assured that the Consulate is always willing to continue friendly relations with their local government and even further promote practical cooperation between China and the Philippines.

On the other hand, Mayor Fernandez spoke highly of the contributions made by the local Chinese to the economic and social development of Dagupan. She added that they will also work closely with the Consulate to jointly promote the implementation of various projects such as the construction of the China-Philippines Friendship Park in Dagupan to deepen the friendly cooperation of China and Philippines.
