On June 29, Consul and Head of Post Zhou Youbin met with Chinese Director Xu Lei and Philippine Director Cavin F. Pamintuan of the Confucius Institute at the Angeles University Foundation. The delegation came to Ilocos Norte to inspect and guide the Chinese language teaching in the Confucius Hub at Paoay National High School.

Director Xu Lei and Director Pamintuan introduced Confucius Institute at Angeles University respectively, and thanked the Chinese Consulate in Laoag for attaching importance to the Chinese teaching work of the Confucius Institute and for its strong support to the Confucius Hub at Paoay National High School.

Consul Zhou pointed out that learning Chinese and understanding Chinese culture is an important way to enhance mutual understanding between Chinese and Filipinos. Over the past six years,under the strategic leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Duterte, China-Philippines comprehensive strategic cooperative relations have achieved fruitful results, political mutual trust has been further enhanced, and cooperation in economy, culture, science and technology, education and other fields has been achieved significant progress. It is believed that under the leadership of the new administration of President Bongbong Marcos, the friendly and cooperative relations between China and the Philippines will be further deepened, and the foundation of people-to-people friendship will be broader. The Northern Luzon region is traditionally friendly to China, and young people and students are enthusiastic about learning Chinese. I hope the Confucius Institute will continue to provide support for Chinese language teaching in the consular area.

The delegation also visited the Chinese Language Learning Center of Mariano Marcos State University, and exchanged and discussed with President Dr. Shirley Agrupis on cooperation in Chinese language teaching.
