Chinese Spring Festival Celebration Was Co-organized at Robinsons Place, Ilocos Norte

On February1, Chinese Consulate in Laoag in partnership with Robinsons Place Ilocos organized the celebration of Chinese Lunar New Year in Ilocos Norte.

The event was headed by Consul and Head of Post Zhou Youbin, Ilocos Norte Vice Governor Cecilia Araneta Marcos and San Nicolas Mayor Alfredo P. Valdez. It was participated by the President of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry of Ilocos Norte Mrs. Mary Ang, Filipino Chinese Amity Club Ilocos Norte Chapter Mr. Michael Ang and other 200 participants.

During his speech, Consul Zhou said Spring Festival symbolizes reunion and good luck, while tiger symbolizes strength and bravery. As we still face the pandemic, may the Year of the Tiger bring us more strength and courage to finally overcome the COVID-19 together.

  

Consul Zhou stressed that China and the Philippines are neighbors separated by a strip of water, partners through thick and thin, and friends who support each other. The sound development of China-Philippine relations is fully in line with the common interests of both countries, the fundamental interests of their people, and the trend of a peaceful regional and world development.

  

Consul Zhou likewise expressed his gratitude to the co-organiser and participants for yearly holding the celebration which has made positive contributions in helping the local people understand Chinese culture and promoting the friendship and exchanges between Chinese and Filipinos. He then greeted the people of Ilocos Norte a happy Chinese New Year and wished everyone good health.

Students from Paoay National High School and Paoay Lake High School presented wonderful performances, including songs and  dances.The audience was delighted with the students' wonderful performances.
