On July 10, the Chinese Consulate presented the Chinese Information Centre of Mariano Marcos State University of Ilocos Norte sixty Chinese books and videos covering Chinese history, politics, economy, culture, art and culinary as a gift.

 

Attended by more than 200 teachers and students, Dr. Miriam E. Pascua, President of Mariano Marcos State University and Chen Laiping, Consul & Head of Post addressed the Book Turn-over Program in the University library.

 

Being thankful for the generosity of the Consulate, Dr. Miriam E. Pascua, President of Mariano Marcos State University, believed the establishment of the Chinese Consulate should propel the friendly relations between the University and China into a new era. Dr. Miriam E. Pascua also wished these Chinese books and videos would greatly deepen the knowledge and understanding of students here in Chinese history, culture, economy, etc.

 

Chen Laiping, Consul & Head of Post, expressed his gratitude and excitement for the reception and the Book Turn-over Program, and highly remarked the vision of establishing Chinese Information Centre. Reviewing the history of China-Philippine relations and the great achievements of the reform and opening-up policy of China, Chen address that studying Chinese was popular all over the world. Chen said, the Consulate was willing to assist and promote the university in developing interuniversity exchange with Chinese universities like teacher retraining program, academic research cooperation, exchanging students and establishing sister-university relations. Chen wished the Chinese books and videos would help students know China better.
