China has always regarded Costa Rica as a sincere friend and reliable partner. China stands ready to work with Costa Rica to further promote the joint fight against COVID-19 and the bilateral pragmatic cooperation in various fields, and to deepen the strategic partnership between China and Costa Rica, based on the important consensus reached between both heads of state.

Wang Yi said, since the outbreak of COVID-19, China and Costa Rica have been understanding and supporting each other, and further deepening friendship and mutual trust. The two sides should uphold the concept of green development and strengthen cooperation in areas such as climate change and sustainable development. China welcomes Costa Rica's joining in the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, supports Costa Rica in playing an active role in regional affairs, and expects Costa Rica to actively promote the development of China's relations with regional countries when Costa Rica assumes the rotating presidency of the Central American Integration System next year.

Wang Yi said, China highly appreciates the Costa Rican government's firm commitment to the one-China policy, which has consolidated the political foundation of the relations between the two countries. He hopes and believes that Costa Rica will continue to uphold a fair position on the Taiwan issue and support China's legitimate claim of safeguarding national sovereignty.

Solano said, Costa Rica will always be China's best friend in Central America and the Caribbean. Costa Rica attaches great importance to the development of relations with China and will continue to adhere to the one-China principle. Next year marks the 200th anniversary of Costa Rica's independence and the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. The two sides should take this opportunity to enhance mutual political trust, deepen pragmatic cooperation and lift the strategic partnership between the two countries to a new level. Costa Rica appreciates China's commitment to carbon neutrality by 2060 and is ready to join China in promoting inclusive and green development for the benefit of the two peoples.
